(Des Moines) -- Council Bluffs, Abraham Lincoln (16-3) had a dominant showing in the quarterfinal round of the girls Class 3A state soccer tournament Tuesday.

Three goals from three different players and some stout defense throughout the contest pushed the No. 2 seed Lynx to a 3-0 victory over No. 7 Dowling Catholic (12-6).

(Clarinda) -- Clarinda baseball is living up to its top-five state ranking, as the Cardinals (2-0) remained unbeaten on the season with a 7-2 victory over Hawkeye Ten conference foe Shenandoah (0-1) Thursday night.

Shenandoah jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning but it was all Clarinda from there, as the Cardinals scored two runs in the second inning, three in the third and two more in the sixth.

(Anita) -- For the first time in school history, the Saint Albert girls golf team is headed to the state tournament.

The Saintes shot 383 as a team at the Class 1A regional final meet in Anita Wednesday, earning second place and their maiden state tournament berth.
